From Horsebox to Gin Bar
Powering Up Our Horse Box Gin BarThe Electrics
One big question we had early on in our gin bar conversion was: how do you turn an old horse box into a fully working bar with fridges, lighting, sockets and the ability to hook up to mains power at events?
We started by measuring out about 50 metres of cabling, enough to run a ring circuit along the back wall with four double plug sockets. On the opposite wall, we added a separate lighting circuit with two outdoor lights on one switch and overhead LED lights on another. All of this feeds back into a small garage consumer unit, giving us the flexibility to safely control each circuit depending on the set-up we need that day.
To make the bar completely event-ready, we fitted a caravan hook-up outlet so we can either plug straight into the mains or run everything from a generator when needed. It means our horse box gin bar is always powered up and ready to serve.
