The Fit Out

Designing the bar was one of the most enjoyable stages of the gin bar conversion. It’s where creativity really comes into play — not just in how it looks, but also in how it reflects the brand and the atmosphere we want to create when people step up to order a drink.

For the build itself, we kept things practical but stylish. The fridges were upcycled and thoroughly cleaned, while the panels and work surface came from B&Q. The main bar top started as one long piece of wood, measured carefully to fit the back wall of the trailer and then cut down to size.

The offcut didn’t go to waste — it was repurposed to form the serving hatch section. To get the right length, we cut the offcut down the middle, re-joined it, and then notched out the base so it would sit neatly over the kick board and steel frame that supports the bar.

Finally, to keep everything safe and sturdy, we added two discreet hooks to the underside of the bar top. These prevent it from flipping up if anyone leans on it while waiting for their drink — small details like this make a big difference when you’re turning a horse box into a working gin bar.
