From Horsebox to Gin Bar
The Start of Our Trailer ConversionBox to box
Converting this old horse box into a horse box gin bar in Hampshire has been a creative and rewarding project. What started as an unused vehicle is slowly being transformed into a unique, mobile space for serving gin and tonics at events, as well as showcasing our Gin Chin artisan bottled gin.
The project began by stripping out all the old interior fittings, giving us a clean slate for a fresh new design.
Day one of the trailer conversion was a full-on session of cutting, measuring, and welding to create a custom serving hatch — the heart of the bar. Before that, we cleared out all the old wood panelling and the centre divider, which had once safely transported horses.
Building the hatch involved removing the old steelwork and constructing a boxed steel frame, which we painted in red oxide to prevent rust — essential for a trailer that will spend long days outside at events. For those curious, we sourced the steel online to find the best material for the job.
Every stage of this Gin Bar trailer conversion in Hampshire has been a story in itself. Stay tuned as we continue bringing this old horse box back to life as a one-of-a-kind mobile trailer for our premium craft gin brand.
